Here’s a fact that might just shock you: 95% of women have no clue what to do to get results from their workouts. I can honestly say too that isn’t not their fault. Ever since you were a kid what did you see women doing to try and get in shape? Most likely running or some form of aerobics training.

Or maybe you’ve tried a workout in a magazine designed to help you “drop 10 lbs in 2 weeks”… either way we’ve been fed the incorrect facts on getting in shape.

If you’ve been doing any of these workouts then I recommend stopping today and switching it up to a program designed to hit your goals.

Cardio lover. These ladies go to the gym, walk past all the equipment and get right on a treadmill or elliptical. They go straight for 45 minutes or longer and then step off and go home. Yes, cardio is good for your heart and lungs but not for burning body fat. You burn lots of calories during but it’s a mix of fat and lean muscle. If you burn muscle then you lose metabolism. And you want to burn as many calories as possible.

Weight Machines. You walk in from sitting all day at the office and take turns sitting on different machines to “strength train” with little weight. The problem here is that exercise wasn’t meant to be done sitting down (unless you’re doing physical therapy). You’re suppose to break a sweat, work your muscles and feel like you just actually worked out. Isolation machines like this makes for little calorie burn and little muscle toning. To work all the major muscles you would have to sit at every machine in the place. What if I had 4 exercises that could do the job of all the machines in the place?

Going light. You know how important strength training is for women to lose fat and tone up but you’re afraid of bulking so you grab the 5 pound weights and do a few reps for all exercises. Your muscles react when you challenge them, and little pink weights doesn’t do that (unless you do 50 reps). As far as bulking, you don’t have the physiological make-up of a man or the hormones so you won’t bulk.

The bottom line is this: for the best results you need a great workout program designed with your goals in mind and you have to be open to trying something new that will work. Weight training for women not only burns fat, it also increases metabolism, improves bone strength, tones your body and makes you hit goals!
